SKOPE is initially focusing on providing high spatial resolution precipitation and temperature data for the last 2000 years in the Southwest US.
A key project effort is PaleoCAR. PaleoCAR implements a a correlation adjusted regression of tree ring series with 100+ years of contemporary data modeled by PRISM at an 800 m scale to retrodict climatic variables, notably precipitation and temperature over the last 2000 years.
FedData is a package for the R statistical environment that allows for automated access to several federated data sources. The package is under active development by SKOPE researchers.
Risk Landscapes use high spatial resolution temperature and precipitation data (both historic and prehistoric–from PaleoCAR) to assess the spatial distribution, through time of the local risk of crop failure from runoff and dry farming technologies.
